Michael J. Miller
SCI Life Member, sponsor, and lifelong hunter
President and Owner of MJ Miller and Company in Barrington, IL, Mike Miller became a hunter at the age of 7 while living in North Dakota. He grew up in an era when it was common for students to walk to school with a shotgun over their shoulder, and keep it in their school locker during the day. Everyone hunted on their way to school and on their way home. Hunting was a tradition in his family, and Mike was fortunate to hunt with his father almost every day, up until the time he left home for college.
Mike has continued to be an avid hunter and conservationist throughout his lifetime, having hunted all over the world, including 11 trips to Alaska and 63 trips to Africa. In Mike’s opinion, goose hunting and Cape buffalo hunting are two of the most exciting ways to spend a day afield. Throughout his life, Mike’s love for hunting has reached beyond his days in the field. He has been an SCI Life Member since 1977 and a chapter member since 1978. Mike participated as an exhibitor at the SCI National Convention for 40 years and has been a major Convention sponsor.
On a local basis, Mike has supported multiple local chapters since 1978 with very generous donations. The Illinois & Chicago Chapter is proud to honor Michael J. Miller for his decades of dedication to the hunting community and his years of friendship, service and sponsorship to Safari Club International and the local chapters.
